I feel proud every time a major project gets to the point of full implementation, where the benefits are visible to everyone and you know all the hard work really has paid off.
Where were you born?
St Albans, just north of London
Describe your current role.
As a Continuous Improvement and Lean Six Sigma expert I run projects with lawyers to identify opportunities for improved efficiency and client delivery. We’ll then look to identify, pilot and implement appropriate solutions, whether they are process, people or technology driven.
How did you get started doing this?
For almost all of my working life I’ve worked in business transformation and change - but only recently in the Legal sector, previously working in Banking and IT outsourcing/consultancy.
Having done 2 years of role rotations on a graduate scheme at the start of my career, I was looking for the right permanent role for me. My manager suggested a role in the Lean Transformation team, an area I hadn’t worked in at all. I went for it based on his advice and knowledge of my strengths, and it immediately clicked; I continue to find it motivating and rewarding nearly 8 years later.
What’s your favorite thing about your work?
I get to make a real, tangible difference, to people internally, to our clients, and to our firm. As well as delivering creative solutions to client challenges in an innovative way, I’m making peoples’ working lives easier and more enjoyable – and working with some brilliant minds on truly inspired ideas in the process.
Describe a moment you are proudest of in your career.
I feel proud every time a major project gets to the point of full implementation, where the benefits are visible to everyone and you know all the hard work really has paid off. Large projects can take many months of hard work and collaboration from a wide group of people – so there’s a real sense of satisfaction and celebration – before moving onto the next challenge!
